Stella through the years

Stella on her 1st birthday...
just turned 2...
now she's our big 3 year old girl!

Stella turned 3 last week!! She is a sweet, funny, adorable girl and we love her to pieces! She brings smiles everyday and fills us with joy. Stella is adventurous and daring, fun loving and sweet. Always the first to share everything she loves to put on a show and make people laugh. We go to a gymnastics club every week and I frequently find Stella dangling from high bars after managing to climb up without planning a way to get down. She just hangs there with a smile on her face swinging her legs back and forth with gusto like any moment she is going to turn out an amazing trick! She still loves her pink blanket, lovingly referred to as 'blankie' (or, when it needs to be washed not so lovingly- 'manky blankie') and spends a lot of time wanting to snuggle with mommy. She can hold her own in any crowd of kids and makes some pretty terrifying pirate voices! She doesn't care for dress up gowns or princesses, but loves Kermit the frog and The Octonauts. She still won't go to Nursery on Sunday, but she stands at the front of the room by me while I teach the adult Gospel Doctrine Sunday School class and charms all the grown-ups. She loves being with Arthur and wants to do exactly what he does. She is mad about puzzles, and loves stuffed animals. She is such a joy to be around!

Here are her answers to 20 birthday interview questions:

1. What is your favorite color? Green
2. What is your favorite toy?  My Peppa Pig car
3. What is your favorite fruit? Bananas
4. What is your favorite tv show? Octonauts and Muppet Treasure Island
5. What is your favorite thing to eat for lunch? Tortellini
6. What is your favorite outfit? My pink skirt
7. What is your favorite game? Jenga (Stella is a master at Jenga! She loves playing it and has had remarkably steady hands and focus for a 2 year old.)
8. What is your favorite snack? Crumpets (That’s the British side coming out in her.)
9. What is your favorite animal? Teddy and Dog and Monkey (really this list could have been much longer- her favorite stuffed animal changes weekly.)
10. What is your favorite song? Muppet Treasure Island songs
11. What is your favorite book? Peppa Pig books
12. Who is your best friend? Mommy and Arthur and Daddy (this was totally unprompted and completely melted my heart!)
13. What is your favorite cereal? “The treat one!” (I can’t even tell you the name of this cereal- she was apparently given some kind of sugary cereal at some point that I am too stingy to normally buy and will refer to it as the ‘treat cereal’ forevermore)
14. What is your favorite thing to do outside? Go to Lister Park and play on the playground (she is totally a playground girl- slides, swings, the whole shebang- she loves playgrounds!)
15. What is your favorite drink? “Sick juice” (again, thanks to their stingy mom, the kids only get their pick of juice when they are sick, so now having juice all day is their favorite part of being sick- so much so that Stella just refers to it as ‘sick juice’.)
16. What is your favorite holiday?  Going to Grandma and Grandad’s house!
17. What do you like to take to bed with you at night? My rat and my bluebird and blankie and friend and kitty…(another list that could be endless!)
18. What is your favorite thing to eat for breakfast? Creamy wheat and waffles (not together)
19. What is your favorite thing to eat for dinner? Tortellini
20. What do you want to be when you grow up? I don’t know…maybe someone who reaches high things (this was my favorite answer ever! I love that it was such an easy question for her- like, obviously when you grow up you can reach high things- what more could you want? )
Happy Birthday Stella!! We love you!!!

Reading these posts put a smile on my face and a little tear in my eye. I miss you guys so much. I can't believe how grown up your kids are looking (and Arthur so tall!). Stella's answers were so sweet; I love that last one, too. Her party looked so fun, and that cake - amazing! You've got such a knack for that stuff, Karin. Her silly faces were too much. Your hair, Karin! Woo! So long and beautiful! You're just such a wonderful, inspiring, thoughtful mom and friend. Wish we could have been there to celebrate all the festivities. Love you all! Happy birthday, Stella!!!
