Easter

To celebrate Easter with Chris' family I made a yummy brunch Saturday morning while Chris hid the Easter eggs in the garden. When everyone arrived we enjoyed warm cinnamon rolls and sausage egg casserole with fresh fruit on the side. My mom always made amazingly delicious homemade cinnamon rolls so I've never actually made them from scratch myself. These were sinful and rich, but well worth the time! Not quite like mom used to make, but not bad for a first try!

I love when the icing starts to drip off the edges!
Mmmmmm.....

Chris' mom and grandfather.

The kids made these Easter decorations to hang above the food table.

They love their great grandad!

Ready to hunt for some eggs!

Chris apparently couldn't resist hiding some in a tree as a real challenge for the kids. Luckily he was there to give them a boost!

I came up with this idea to color coordinate the eggs. So we had four kids and four different colors of eggs- each kid could only grab an egg that was their color in an attempt to level the playing field so it was fair for everyone.
It worked really well, no fighting over eggs or dashing around trying to grab as many as possible. They even helped each other find the right eggs!

Full baskets = happy kids

Egg and spoon race

To burn off some energy the kids played Twister.

I found this recipe for a fun kid friendly Easter cake so we whipped it up on Sunday. The base is supposed to look like a bird's nest and is made of chocolate and crushed pretzels, with a few other things thrown in. Then once it hardens you fill the 'nest' with chocolate eggs.

The kids loved this part!

Ta da! Cute and delicious, this might just become an Easter tradition!

Thanks to our family for celebrating Easter with us this year, and to my mom for always making it so special growing up!

Your Easter looks/looked wonderful! Good work on the cinnamon rolls. Great idea on the color coded eggs, too. I love that they were working together. You all look great!
