Parade!!

We realized on July 24th this year that we have never taken our children to a parade, unless you count the royal funeral procession in Poland...but probably not.
So, we packed up and set off for Downtown SLC first thing Monday morning to watch the Pioneer Day Parade.

Stella was more than happy to skip her after breakfast nap to take in the show!

"Look at that!"
There were a lot of spectacular sights to see!

Some very cool floats!

Lots of very old cars.
The best part of the parade was when President and Sister Monson went by! Unfortunately the one time in my life that I am 10 feet away from the prophet and my camera was literally in my hand I was too excited to wave at him and completely forgot to take a picture! Oh well, till we meet again...
Arthur and Stella both really enjoyed the parade and there was a perfect cloud cover to keep us from baking ourselves right there on main street, so we all had a great time!

After dinner last night Chris and I were lingering at the table having a conversation while Arthur ran off to entertain himself. When we found him in the living room he had spread out a comfy blanket to do read some books from Daddy's study. You know- Hitler, Stalin, the rise of Italian fascism, just some light after dinner reading!

Our little historian!

Mommy's debut as a novice fire engine constructor!
What do you do with all those big empty car seat boxes? You wait for Daddy to get home and build something really cool with them! Tired of waiting, ok just let Mommy try to tape something together....ta da! I made a fire engine for fireman Arthur and his crew of stuffed animals! What you can't see in this picture is the companion cardboard 'building' that frequently catches fire and requires fireman Arthur to rescue all the less fortunate stuffed animals that get trapped inside! Not bad Mommy, not bad!
