I thought that I had finished all of my blog catching up, but then I remembered our beach vacation pictures!
In August we rented a car and drove down to the beach where Chris' parents have a vacation home. We spent a long weekend there with them followed by several days at their house in Horsham.
Before we left the kids and I made these snack necklaces for them to wear in the car so they could munch on snacks whenever they wanted. Arthur suffers from pretty severe car sickness, so ever since he was 2 years old we have had to carry a bucket and lots of rags in the car. Luckily he is old enough now to recognize the signs and reach for the bucket on time to catch it all which means we no longer have random explosions of vomit all over the car! Hallelujah!
Playing with bubbles on the deck

While we were there we visited some castle ruins. This is Corfe Castle.
With the grandparents
Chris told the kids that they could take this castle rock home if they could lift it.
Needless to say- it stayed put!
We watched a knight's competition while we were there and learned a lot about castle life. Grandad got this knight dress up set for Arthur! While we sat watching the knight show Arthur had his first wasp sting right on his face. It was semi traumatic for him, but luckily it was only his emotions that took the brunt of it- he didn't have any bad physical reactions to the sting itself.
The first couple of days on the beach were spent like this! It was very cold and drizzly so Stella and I snuggled in a beach chair and watched Arthur play.
The only brave one!
Still snuggling!
Daddy was finally able to coax Stella out of her cocoon long enough to dig a big hole!
Having lunch in town.
Arthur wrote his name in the sand!
The last day we were there was sunny and warm! Finally, some beach weather!
Practicing his surfing form!
The castle that Grandad built.
The boy that stormed the castle!
Unfortunately, the wasps were really bad at the beach as well! Stella got stung on her leg and that pretty much ended our sunny beach day!
While we were at Chris' parent's house we celebrated his brother's 30th birthday.
Grandma found these matching costumes for the kids!
Stella got to be a cute puppy dog.
Snuggling with great grandad.
It was a wonderful trip, and we can't wait to go again next summer!
