V is for Volcano!!

V proved to be a very exciting letter!! We could sum it all up in one word- VOLCANOES!

Arthur made his very own Volcanologist vest!

The local fire department held a safety fair in Orem that Chris took the kids to. They got up close and personal with lots of safety Vehicles!

The firemen demonstrated putting out a real fire.
Cool!

Arthur made a letter V vase and filled it with tissue paper flowers. Then we sent it to Grandma Carla to brighten up her hospital room.

This was such a cool art project! I don't think Arthur really 'got' it at first...

But once the paint was dry I took off the tape and we were all really impressed!
We mixed up some play doh like dough and formed a volcano around an empty yogurt container.

The next day Arthur painted it brown and we got ready to watch it erupt!

A little baking soda and vinegar later.....

 and there she blows!

We also did a really cool geyser experiment with a 2 liter bottle of soda and a tube of Mentos.
Some combinations are explosive!

This was definitely an outdoor experiment!

It went pretty high in the air before it fizzled down.

 Our little scientists!

Then we headed inside and warmed up with a really fun game of balloon volleyball.

It was really difficult to get a good shot of them playing, but let's just say it was a great way to warm up!

Our week ended with a Friday night movie about volcanoes and a chocolate volcano cake with real red lava oozing out!

 I loved this craft!

We used the kids hand prints for the exploding smoke cloud! Stella really loved that part!

Arthur is incredibly scientific and loves to learn anything having to do with science. So he became a volcano expert this week and we had a great time!
