New Nursery Leader Needs Your Help!

Greetings Moms, Mums, and Dads!

I was extended a very special call on Sunday, to be the new Nursery leader in our ward here in England. I can't tell you how excited I am, truly this has to be one of the greatest callings there is! Our ward's Nursery has unfortunately been a bit disorganized for a while and they have had a hard time finding people that are willing and able to serve in Nursery positions. We have an average of 10 kids each week, 9 boys and one sweet little girl. I know that with the right creative ideas, consistency, fun, and spirituality the kids will thrive in Nursery and it can become a place that they all want to be each week. This is where you come in!

I have been gathering ideas into a notebook of fun new things to try in our Nursery, from music time aids to better toy organization. Thank goodness for sugardoodle.net which is a great resource for ideas to help with many different church callings. It occurred to me that I have another fabulous resource at my fingertips that I haven't tapped into- you experienced parents!

I would love it if you could take just a second and share with me a fun idea that you have seen in your Nursery experiences with your children, or just something that seems to work well for your Nursery! Thanks for the help, and may the Lord continue to bless Nursery leaders everywhere!

Congratulations on your new calling! One fun thing that they do in our ward is they create a magnet with the pictures of every child. The magnet has a frame for the picture and also a clothespin to clip on any drawings that they do in classtime. When the children come in, they get to find their magnet and put it on the chalkboard. Just a fun little "welcome to nursery" idea.

In our nursery they have for singing time a bag full of different items that go along with the different songs. For examlpe, they have a mitten that looks like a spider for the "Incy, wincy spider," and a hand for "If You're Happy and You Know It."

I am sure that I have some fantasticc ideas.... surfacing them from memory- not so easy. I will consider and poll our nursery leaders for ideas. We actually served in the Nursery for 3 years- my best thoughts are to really love the kids and have an organized schedule to work within. Kids are more secure with consistency and definatley a big douse of love!
