Some nice views

I 'll have to do our Italy pictures in batches, so here are the pictures that are representative of the first few days of our trip.
We ate a lot of Italian ice cream! Arthur loved it and quickly began to recognize the sometimes flashy store fronts of the Gelato shops and was always on board for a "scoop"! He was especially good at picking out his own flavor and as far as I can tell he mostly based his decision on which color he liked best that day. But with all those yummy flavors you really couldn't go wrong, whatever your method!

This is one of my favorite pictures of these boys! Here they are sitting in the main plaza in Siena. A large bowl-like circle rimmed with dozens of restaurants, this plaza was always filled with people lounging about or wandering from shop to shop.

Arthur thought it was funny when he saw people lying down in the plaza soaking up the sun or having a nap, so he just had to try it!

Some of the plaza.

This is the main cathedral at the very base of the plaza and is really the building that distinguishes the city. Its facade can be found on countless souvenir items for sale in Siena.

Arthur and I touring the streets.

Overlooking part of the city.

I love these narrow old streets and picturesque buildings!

One of our favorite places to eat there was a restaurant just down the street from our apartment. There was a large covered balcony for eating outside with a view that overlooked part of the city.

Yum!
