We visited a monkey sanctuary- so first off here are Chris and Arthur acting like monkeys...

And here are the real monkeys!

These are all rescued monkeys from illegal animal trade, circuses, and labs where most of them were abused and malnourished. The monkey sanctuary takes them in and cares for them- its a really neat program and the park is enormous!

Most of the monkeys are in penned areas, but in this part of the park you could actually get up close and personal- Arthur loved it!

Checking out the monkeys

Can you believe how big those leaves are?? I don't know what kind of plant this is, but we felt like we had just stumbled into a giant's lettuce patch!

Just peeking around

Chris and Arthur

This chimp sat against the glass peering at us for so long that we started feeling like we were the ones on display instead of the other way around!

Getting a good look at the humans.

This was inside one of the 'pens'. It was really fun to watch the monkeys playing on
their giant playgrounds.

They put up plaques around the park with each monkey's 'story' of where they came from and how they were rescued. It is heartbreaking what condition some of them were in from the cruelty and abuse they received.

We had a lot of fun on the playgrounds!

Arthur and grandma

We ran into a few donkeys outside the pub where we ate lunch- it was a day full of animals!

"Donkey!"

Arthur was giving grandma a new hairdo while she napped!
