Letter M!!
For our letter sorting we helped some uppercase M and some lowercase m monsters find their way home to the correct 'Monsterville' map.
This activity came from filefolderfun.com
We talked a lot about manners this week and this file folder game was perfect. Each monster is saying something that is either good manners or bad manners- the bad mannered monsters get put under the bed (through a slit in the folder connected to a ziploc bag), the good mannered monsters get to hide in the closet!
| P.S. Arthur doesn't usually do FHE in his underwear, but it was a very hot day! |
I don't usually end up taking pictures during family home evening but this moment had to be captured! We talked about Captain Moroni for our letter M week and during FHE we made our own title of liberty. Arthur got to play Captain Moroni and was very convincing with his cardboard sword and shield!
This monster sensory box required Arthur to find the monster 'hair' (corresponding colors of yarn) using tongs and put them in the right monster's cup. This was one of those times where I was really excited about an activity and after 1 minute Arthur wanted to be done with it. Ugh!
Arthur made his own monster puppet!
We made paint monsters by dropping a blob of paint in the middle of the paper then folding it over to create a semi symmetrical blob and adding monster features.
We checked out this map game from the library and loved it!
Marble painting was a lot of fun! Arthur discovered that the paint lines looked different depending on which direction he tipped the box.
A homemade marble run!
This week would not have been complete without M&M's!
So we did some M&M counting, color sorting, classifying, and math.
We read If You Give a Moose a Muffin, so of course we made to bake our own muffins!
Part of the theme for the week was manners. We talked about manners and tried to incorporate them often into our week. Arthur had his own manners badge which he got to put a sticker on each time he remembered to say please or thank you without being reminded. Once he filled it up we went to our favorite frozen yogurt store, Menchie's, for a good manners treat! What a marvelous week!

Your "M" week looked particularly stellar! Too bad Arthur didn't love that DARLING monster matching/yarn game. So so cute! But you can totally see the joy on his face with all those other marvelous, magnificent activities!
I love the creative games and activities you come up with an enjoy with Arthur!
