I forgot about these pictures when I posted our C week this morning!
One of the other things we learned about was castles. We read some great library books on the topic and then made our own cardboard castle!
Daddy headed up the castle construction crew.
Arthur made stained glass windows for the sides of our castle.
Giving his favorite stuffed dragon a look around.
Note the actual working drawbridge!
Ta-da! A fun activity for a cold afternoon!
Liz- I'm always so happy to hear from you! Your little ones are growing so fast... Ania makes me giggle every time I see new pics on your blog, remembering that sweet baby girl and seeing what a beautiful silly girl she is now! For the preschool stuff I mostly follow the curriculum outlined on this website: http://www.letteroftheweek.com/preschool_age_3.html
I like the range of topics and ideas and the overall schedule that she suggests, so I just printed out (for free) her curriculum letter by letter. I add in other topics or focus on certain things that I know Arthur is really interested in. So for this week we talked all about dinosaurs (in addition to the basic daily activities) since that is something he really loves. I supplement the crafts and activities from this blog: www.confessionsofahomeschooler.com/letter-of-the-week
because I really love her fun activity sheets. These can be downloaded for free from her blog and printed at home. I just select some of the activities for each letter and print them out on Saturday ready for the next week of school. Most of her pages are repeated for each letter (same activity with a different letter), so I don't do every one each week, I just base it on what Arthur has enjoyed and try to rotate things to keep it interesting.
I also get books from the library for craft ideas, and we check out a lot of books on the topics we are learning that week. They have a space in our library where you can check out games and children's educational materials, movies, puzzles and so on, so I always try to get some of those as well!
All in all we are lucky to live close by to some of these resources that are free to use and I try to pull ideas from online from smarter and more creative people than myself!
Hope this helps!!
