Last Friday we went to dinner with the other students and some of the professors from the program that Chris is involved in here. They took us to a Russian restaurant where we had some new taste experiences! After they brought out big pints of beer for everyone we had to insist that "no thanks, we just wanted water- really!" (they had a hard time believing us and looked a bit confused when we announced that we don't drink- at all. Then came the cultural food, after some very tasty (and meaty!) soup Chris had potato pancakes stuffed with meat and I ordered the Russian dumplings filled with chicken. It was all very tasty and although I don't think I'd like to pack off to Russia any time soon on account of the cuisine it was a really great night out and fun to try something different!

Not sure I can identify what some of the food is in the pictures- you will have to share move of the favorite Russian foods with me.
