Birthday Party!

For her big day Stella requested a robot party.
So after a few internet searches I had some crafty ideas of how to throw one together.

These are rice krispie robot heads that the kids helped me decorate.

 The birthday cake!!
I loved making this cake! It was a lot of fun to put it all together and I think it turned out really cute.

 After adding the final touches...

We had the party in the Primary room at our ward building. There isn't a whole lot of decorating that you can do, which was what I was shooting for anyway- I wanted it to be pretty simple. We saved up tin cans and cereal boxes for a few weeks and used foil to create some decorative robots.

The little robot head party boxes were ordered from Amazon- very fun!

This is the trash can from our school room, but the kids helped me transform it into 'Trash-bot'. This bot featured in the decorations and one of the party games. The kids worked in teams to see how many plastic balls they could throw into Trash-bots 'mouth' in thirty seconds.
Also- I love that they kids made a number four with the antennae!

 Part of the party room.

These little robots were made from empty milk cartons that I covered in construction paper. They started as decorations, and then became the pins for a game of robot bowling.

More robots the kids helped me make for the party!

These guys were stacked up but not glued together. One of the games was trying to knock down the robots by throwing plastic balls at them.

Getting the party girl ready before everyone arrived.

We started the party with a couple of crafts the kids could make at the tables. One was this robot mask made from a paper bag that they decorated.

 Crafting kids.

 Stella the robot!

The other craft was making a little robot out of a paper cup that the kids covered in foil and decorated with pipe cleaner and stickers.

 Arthur and his 'bot'.

A few of the kids with their robot masks completed.

I think the crafts were both a big hit. I didn't go whole hog on them because I thought that half of the kids wouldn't really want to make anything, or get bored quickly, but they loved it! It was a perfect start as people were arriving and they were all really excited about taking their creations home.

I played a few rounds of "Robot Says" with the kids while Chris cleared the craft stuff off the tables so we could eat.

After the food we played more games. The first game was robot corners and Stella won! All the kids wanted to give her a winner's hug.

Stella loved her cake and asked me the next morning if I could make her another one!
Ummm...no!

Some of the party games included: robot corners, Robot Says, a robot freeze dance game, a robot relay, and robot bowling, (all of which we tried to take pictures of but they mostly turned out as blurs of kids running past) - but by far the kids' favorite game was throwing the balls to knock down the robots. It was hilarious!
Chris made the choice to stand behind the table with the robots on top so he could set them back up each time and he got pretty hammered, but I think that was part of the reason the kids loved it!

Cake time!!
It was a birthday party success! The kids all had a great time and Stella loved it, which was the most important thing.
Happy Birthday Stella!
