England Adventures: Leaving on a Jet Plane...

I had very sincere intentions to update my blog while we were away in England, but that resolution (along with my 'do not gain 10 pounds while on vacation' resolution) went by the wayside. So, now I am taking advantage of Arthur's jet-lagged state (ie- more naps!) to catch everyone up on our last two weeks. I have decided to navigate through our England photos and experiences in several installments for the sake of the blog, so to start us off: Our departure!
I was worried about how Arthur would do with the seven hour time difference, and how he would handle the long flight. It's humbling to think that after years of dreading screaming babies on planes I might now have to experience being the parent of that screaming baby and becoming object of glaring eyes and grumbling passengers' complaints. So it was with some trepidation that I roused Arthur from sleep at 4:30 AM to get him ready for the airport. I had hoped that he would go right back to sleep, but he must have been too excited because he was all smiles and chatters. Our friends Zanny and Jonathan (hope your wedding was amazing!) picked us up and we all went to Denny's for a traditional hot greasy breakfast before our flight. It always sounds like a good idea, but really I'm not sure why we do it to ourselves every time, we always realize shortly afterward that the last thing you want on a 7 hour flight is several pounds of fried potato and imitation egg product sitting in the pit of your stomach. Oh well, Arthur stayed awake as long as possible, but he was snoring by the time we arrived at our gate. The flight went surprisingly well- no crying babies here- and we (finally) landed in England in the early morning hours on Friday.
